Hello!
I'd like to say congratulations to you on taking the first step towards asking for a listening ear, receiving advice, or whatever other outcome you're looking for by signing up for BetterHelp. I know it can be a vulnerable decision to make but I'm here and ready to help how I can. This entire process only works if I start by supporting you where you are at today.
My style is casual, warm, direct, and patient. I work primarily using a person-centered focus and approach which means you always come first and we focus on where you are at currently. If you aren't ready to make life changes that feel big to you, that's ok. We can take as long as you need through working together so you feel comfortable and confident. You might not want to share too much about yourself right away and that's ok too. Part of having a person centered approach means I trust that you are the expert in what is best for you and I am simply here to help guide you towards the goals you are trying to achieve by fostering the strengths you already possess.
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with my Master's in Social Work in 2014 and have been practicing in the field ever since. I have my license in clinical social work (LICSW, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker) which means I can practice in a clinical or non-clinical setting independently. My experience has been primarily working with the aging population and very often working with people who have depression and/or anxiety. I've worked with a wide variety of cultures and populations in my 6 years within the field. I love learning from the people I have the opportunity to work with and I value being a part of their support system.
I am comfortable interacting with you in whatever format you prefer: live chat, video, or phone calls. The majority of my availability to provide support and consultation will be on weekday evenings. If I sound like a good fit for you, I can't wait to get to know you more! If not, that's ok because you know exactly what kind of support you need and I know you will find the right match for you.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Overall rating:
Jennifer is fantastic. Offers advice, but more importantly, is a great listener. Always keeps our sessions focused on me.
She is absolutely amazing! I have never felt more understood by someone and very few people can calm me down and help me process my feelings.
Jennifer has been absolutely amazing since our first session. I love that she offers several suggestions and gives me “homework” to really make the most out of the service. Better Help has been an invaluable investment both in time and money and I attribute a lot of that to Jennifer’s understanding, kindness, and expertise.
As someone who studies a social science and struggles with anxiety and some depression, it’s hard for me to not justify or rationalize my surroundings with what I know about mental health. Jennifer really supports AND challenges the way I think about my troubles. I feel like I leave our sessions with a better point of view/clarity and a better sense of direction with how to handle hurdles in my life all while knowing how I felt before was valid.
