Denise has helped me greatly!

Reviewed January 2024

I have only had two video sessions thus far, but Denise has provided numerous resources, most of which I have been able to apply. She sends me articles throughout the week that she feels may be helpful and answers any questions I may have. It’s just a little difficult to convey all aspects of everything that has happened in my life. There is so much that I haven’t said that contributes to my depression, but I have mainly focused on my daughter that is severely addicted, has mental issues, and is homeless on the streets of Philadelphia with no phone. She’s 25 and has completed 8 inpatient residential rehabs. My husband and I have done everything humanly possible for her, but it is up to her now to make the choice to get help. She knows we will support her recovery, but not her addiction. So, as you see, I am not in control of making my daughter healthy and happy. I can only control how I react. But when it is your child, it is very difficult to control your emotions. That is what Denise is trying to help me with. And she shows great empathy in doing so. I would highly recommend Denise to anyone struggling with whatever is happening in their lives. And you can share my identity, I don’t mind.

Hello, my name is Denise. I have been a Counselor/Therapist for over 20 years.

Through my years of experience, I have found that a client centered approach is often the most effective. Each client's story is unique and I want to have the opportunity to hear their story before going forward with a specific style of therapy. I listen with compassion and then review with the client the key points of their experience. The goals for treatment are then created with the client based on what they feel would be not only beneficial, but easily attainable. Counseling can be hard work, and so I want the client to feel that the goal they are working toward can be possible.

All of us have heard the phrase, "these are unprecedented times." Yes, we all have been introduced to extraordinary change in the past couple of years. As a clinician, I am always searching for new ways of helping myself, my family and my community to work with the changes we are experiencing. Change is difficult for many people, but with help, I feel that each of us is capable of making whatever change is necessary to create a better tomorrow. Over the past 5 years, I have been exploring alternative ways of helping people cope with the issues that have led to anxiety, depression, sadness and grief. After reading Bessel Van Der Kolk's book "The Body Keeps The Score," I recognized that the human psyche needs to learn how to release the pain that is stored in the body. I have been taking part in the Eden Energy Medicine program and will share ways to release the pain stored in our body by sharing simple techniques that help to ground and relax the body. I often refer the members I am working with to one of Donna Eden's books that detail many of the techniques that I have been sharing with people.

I encourage you to look for Donna's book, "Energy Medicine: Balancing Your Body's Energies for Optimal Health, Joy, and Vitality." Then contact me for questions and guidance on how to integrate these techniques into your life. I do believe that each of us can live with optimal health, joy, and vitality.

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Denise has been very helpful in her counsel and also in helping me practice addressing the physical manifestation of my anxiety (i.e.- calming the body and nervous system first before trying to manage my thoughts with logic). I have appreciated the introduction, too, to energy work and movement as tools in my arsenal to combat my anxiety.
