Dr. Vernon Stewart has only been working with me for a few weeks and I am already noticing a difference with the tips and helpful insights to subjects that I knew nothing about, nor did I have the right questions for. This wonderfully dedicated doctor is helping me understand me better and with the sessions, classes, worksheets, and journaling I have no doubt I will be the best me.

Hello, I am pleased to introduce myself to you. My name is Dr. Pamela Vernon Stewart. I hold a doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Health Psychology. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) in the State of Illinois. I am well experienced in individual therapy with adults 18 years and older. I earned my degrees (B.S., M.A. and Psy.D.) at Loyola University and the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Some of my experience includes hospital practice, residential facilities and outpatient clinics.

I have five years of intensive experience covering a wide range of concerns. These include trauma (emotional and physical), grief, depression, anxiety, alcohol and substance abuse, stress, neglect, discrimination, cultural identity difficulty, personality disorders, eating disorders, OCD, ADHD, college issues, and health issues including chronic pain, AIDS, Lupus and Diabetes across genders and age groups. In addition, I have experience working with individuals for anger management, communication problems, and relaxation and meditation for stress reduction. I enjoy working with people of all cultures.

I believe in a holistic biopsychosocial approach to assessment and treatment that attends to the client’s mind, body and spirit. My therapy style is integrative (motivational interviewing, psycho-dynamic, behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, DBT, EFT, and so on) collaborative and client-centered at the core. I also have clinical training and experience in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprogramming (EMDR). My therapeutic style is interactive and driven by warmth, sensitivity and empathy. Stalwart ethical principles guide me.

Together we will develop your unique treatment plan, one that will meet your specific needs. I applaud you for seeking help. This takes strength and courage. If you are ready to take the first step, I am here to empower you and help you reach the fulfillment of a happier life.

I look forward to a rich clinical therapeutic experience with you.

With great enthusiasm,

Pamela Vernon Stewart, Psy.D., CADC, LCPC

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Dr. Vernon Stewart has been very helpful in teaching me how to manage stress, anxieties and other life pains. She has help me grow emotionally strong and standup for myself in a productive and safe way within a short period. She is helping me navigate a part of my life that I have been struggling with for a long time. Helping me to pull out what has been there all awhile, strength! Dr. Vernon doesn’t give you the answers to your problems but takes the time to help you figure things out using various therapeutic exercises, including verbal examples, deep questions that makes you think and see things in different ways, printout and books on subjects she discuss with you to help you be more aware and informed. Dr. Steward has many talent in her field including grief counseling. I had been putting this review off because I rather keep her to myself but that would be selfish. (smile) I am writing this review to let everyone know that it is still caring, well qualified people in the world to guide us to BetterHealth mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically like Dr. Vernon Steward. Dr. Pam is very supportive and honest. Those are two things I need very much to explore my challenges that I am facing. She has an excellent way of explaining things in such a way that I can connect the dots on my own and see things in my own way and also in my own life.

I really appreciate Dr. Pam's helpful insights into my family issues. She has helped me approach solutions after years of putting off facing them. It took a long time to work toward this aspect of my counseling experience, but since it is kind of the most deeply rooted aspect of why I need therapy, that makes sense. She is very kind and supportive of me, and very compassionate and validating of my feelings especially when it comes to my family. She has helped me a lot in learning how to think about familial relationships in a way that helps me manage my expectations so I don't get hurt.
