Hello and welcome to my profile! I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Georgia for almost 30 years (since 1993) working in all areas of Mental Health. I’ve worked with foster-care families as well as with families who had children with various developmental disabilities. In addition, I have worked with geriatric clients residing in Assisted Living Facilities. In between these two populations, I have also worked in psychiatric hospitals, acute Mental Health outpatient facilities, Alcohol and Drug outpatient facilities as well as both jails and penitentiaries with clients who had both addictions and mental health issues ranging from Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia and Major Depressive Disorders, just to name a few. I have extensive experience working with clients with both relationship and self-esteem issues, along with being an Adjunct Professor of Psychology for twelve years. My approach to therapy is always “Client-Centered” which means that I meet you where you are and assist you in identifying your stuck points and your goals that YOU want to accomplish with therapy. Remember, this is your life and not mine, therefore only you know what is best for you! As your therapist, my role is simple and yet complex – to hold up a mirror and allow you to identify both your needs and wants and assist you in developing the best course of action for you to take with the least amount of resistance. By the way, I do give homework assignments and completion is critical to your therapeutic progress. Come – take my hand and let us walk and talk together for a little while, because there is indeed a bright and shiny light at the end of your tunnel!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Overall rating:
Great therapist !
Very good listener and gives good advice.
Jerry has been a phenomenal therapist and really helped me re-evaluate how I look at different aspects of my life. I was extremely nervous going into therapy but he's helped me hone in and focus on the things that matter while also providing guidance. I would recommend every time.
Jerry is always a pleasure to talk to!
Jerry has been a lifesaver. Supportive but gives me straight forward advice and helps me work through areas that I often don’t realize need my attention.
He's an excellent listener. He offers methods to change your mindset to be more positive. Gave a few homework assignments that helped me express myself and come back to reality. He has a very calm demeanor that radiates that everything will be alright.
Jerry is great.
Jerry is a like friend, therapist, and cool dad all in one. He gives it to you straight but with a gentle touch and holds you to it. Also can tell when you’re regressing and helps keep you realize that the “journey” is beautiful and can be messy but it’s all part of the journey.
I've had 1 session with Jerry and found it very useful. Thoughtful and sincere discussion!
Simply amazing and sincere gives very helpful advice!
I’d recommend Mr. Jerry to anyone. He is full of wisdom and has such a calming presence. I truly appreciate him.
Jerry is great and he listens to what I what I was really going through. I never thought talking to a therapist would really highlight some of the things I really realized I needed to adjust in my life. I really appreciate his guidance and advice
Great guy. Had revelations on the first session! Highly recommend.
This has been a wonderful experience. He's great!
Jerry help me gain some clarity on things that I need to do in my life.
Great listener and Dr. Smith is very knowledgeable when it came too my thoughts and issues. Comes off and very experienced in his field. Which is really comforting .
Jerry is very professional, gets straight to the point, is direct, intentional and supportive. I’ve had a number of counselors in my life and Jerry has honestly been those most help in “getting down to the point” of our conversations. Jerry is the man!
Jerry was excellent. He helped me so much
Jerry is super great and super professional. Asks all the right questions at the right time. I would highly recommend him to anyone. As my first therapist I'm highly satisfied with my experiences with him.
I've had a few therapists over a long period of time and I always ouind up ending therapy even though I needed it! I never felt my therapists understood me and sessions always felt line marking time. I wasn't feeling better and they didn't give me any concrete edits to battle my depression. Jerry isn't like that! I feel like he is always engaged throughly in our sessions and v that he cares about what I'm going through. I also NEVER get the feeling he's judging me for how I've learned to adapt and incorporate my past into the person I am today. He works with the me that is now. I have the feeling he tailors his approach based on the individual...I don't feel the need to address what made me how I am (since I love who I am for the most part), instead we work through the situations and feelings that put me in a negative space. I know Jerry's approach is the reason this therapy is actually working and that I'm feeling my most healthy as well as why my grief isn't swallowing me whole! I recommend this app, and Jerry, to EVERYONE. Even on Facebook!
Jerry was very intuitive and a great listener. His experience comes through in a way that I found helpful and pertinent. I would recommend him to anyone who needs some direction or tools to help with everything from the everyday stresses to sudden, unexpected, tragic loss. I am a stronger person after working with him.
I send messages as instances arise and I feel good when he responds to them.
Mr. Smith is excellent!
I immediately liked him. He's understanding, kind, patient and honest. Very pleased to been matched with him.
He gets to the heart of the matter. That is important
The type of therapy that Jerry Smith provides is person-centered and very straightforward. He challenged me to explore deeper in order to get to the root of my challenges in life. If you are ready, Jerry Smith is the therapist that will help you change the dynamics of your life!
I have already been recommending better help to friends and family. I'm so glad that I learned of this service at a critical point in my life. The death of my husband was devastating and with covid and my panic disorder, I wasn't able to to go to traditional therapy because I didn't have an option for Face covering. Jerry has been pivotal in helping me work through my grief. And I credit him to everyone for how healthy and stable I am mentally right now!
He is great at what he does, he listens and asks the question promptly just so I never overthink myself. I would recommend all my friends and family. Great man for the job.
Jerry is one of the kindest people on earth. He sat there and listened to me and soaked up everything I was saying, the responded accordingly. This is my first time trying our therapy, and Jerry has made me feel so comfortable expressing my emotions. 10/10 would recommend Jerry.
Jerry is great. He keeps me on track.
Jerry has definitely helped me in my journey. He is very kind and professional. I enjoyed talking to him, it was as if I’ve known him forever. He is very attentive to what you’re saying as long as you speak honestly about your trauma. He will help you break down what your really feeling even if you yourself don’t really know what’s going on inside. Really grateful to have been able to with with him :)
I have said it before, and will say it again: He is wonderful.
Jerry is the most amazing therapist! I've been in therapy before and gave it up because I did not feel connected to my therapist and I did not feel that he heard my concerns. Therapy always felt like marking time for me; where I had someone who was listening with half an ear and who didn't really care. That's not the case with Jerry! He is always present and active during therapy, and I appreciate his therapeutic style. We attack my problems and concerns, and discuss the thought processes that bring me to points of distress or disharmony with my goals. I truly feel like Jerry understands me and is actively supporting me with my mental health goals!
Jerry is my personal hype man! He always uplifts me during hard times. He keeps the ball rolling during our sessions and I feel like we accomplish a lot during our sessions.
I found Jerry to be a valuable resource when I was facing a major career challenge. He acknowledged and validated my concerns and made me feel heard. He helped me to evaluate/give context to my dad's recent passing, which helped me to heal some unresolved issues. In short, I looked forward to our sessions because I knew there would be space for me to critically explore important issues and leave feeling more empowered about my life.
I have only been working with Jerry on a few sessions and I can already see changes within myself and behavior. I feel less anxious and more clear in my emotions. I am learning to express myself in a healthy way within my relationship. Jerry listens and provides you the insight you need to understand yourself better. I have truly enjoyed our sessions.
Mr. Jerry is a great therapist and counselor. We had a few sessions so far and he definitely listens and gives great advice that makes you really look deeply within yourself. I highly recommend Mr. Jerry.
Great grest great!
He's a very open minded , cool man. We are only a few sessions in but I feel like I will be making progress with him as my counselor (-:
Jerry is a perfect counselor for me. He is funny, but serious. He doesn't let me hide behind my excuses and helps me face what I already know. He doesn't say it for me, but makes me say it myself. Two sessions in and I know he is helping me face and accept my grief. He is a wonderful counselor!!
