ABOUT ME

If you are exploring Betterhelp, it is likely that you are wanting to make some changes in your life. Finding the right therapist to help you achieve your goals is important. I want to provide you with information about me that will help you decide if my experience and style is right for you.

I hold a Ph.D., in clinical social work and am dually licensed as both a clinical and macro social worker. I utilize a Strength Perspective (the things you are already good at) and multiple other theoretical perspectives to assist you in achieving your goals.

Healing is a process and requires commitment, compassion, and non-judgment. I am passionate about meeting individuals and couples where they are (which means simply working on the goals you choose) and advocating for my clients. My specialty is working with people experiencing depression, anxiety, stress and trauma (physical, sexual, emotional and medical).

Someone once asked me "How can you work with people in such pain and listen to all the horrible things people have endured". I responded by saying, "Oh, it's not like that! When I meet someone who is seeking counseling, I am meeting someone who has already decided they want a change in their life. I am meeting someone who is stronger than they realize and someone who is willing to share with me their journey of healing and growing. I love watching someone learn about their strengths and seeing them create a life they love and deserve". It's an honor.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Constance is a breath of fresh air! I have been looking for a counselor for a couple of years now and no one seemed to be quite the right fit. I love how experienced she is in her field. She is a good listener and is already (I have had two appointments with her) equipping me with tools to use to help me work through some of the issues I wanted help with. I am looking forward to more sessions with Constance as I genuinely believe she is going to help me on my journey of healing and mental wellness.

I have seen different therapists at various stages in my life and Constance Averill has proven to be one of the best in truly listening to me and offering sage advice. I feel like my time with her is a gift. I sense that we navigate our ways through the world in similar ways, but she is enough older (read wiser!) than me, so she helps give me essential perspective. Her total presence and very pure desire to help others is felt in every moment of our time together. There is no faking the kindness she brings into the world.

She is easy to talk to. She makes sure that you know that she understands you and that’s very important in a therapist. She is a good listener and a great friend. She helped me through my trauma more than anyone in my life did.

Reviewed November 2021

I had my first appointment last week. I would recommend Constance. We had a very good conversation about things. I look forward to the next one. The only reason I marked almost confident is because I don't have confidence in anything right now. Not her issue, it's mine.

Reviewed November 2021

Constance is kind, patient, a great listener that also offers good insight and self help books to help navigate certain areas in life. I feel comfortable talking to her and she is easy to open up to. I would highly recommend her.
