Danny is a very active listener and interjects only when he has somthing profound to contribute. When he does you know he has been processing what issues or challengers you are raising and this helps me to find a way to resolve them. I am grateful for his help as an advocate.

Danny has been super helpful throughout these past months as I have been working on some major issues that have been affecting me. I always plan to look forward to sessions with him because I feel like I am able to open up sincerely and in a very genuine way. He listens to what I say when I am giving him updates and then he asks me questions and challenges my thought process. It has been very natural to I talk to him and I am appreciative of every session.

More about Danny

  • 3 years' experience
  • Male
  • LMHC

My name is Danny El Hassan (M.Ed., M.A.), and I am an LMHC in New York State. I use an integrative approach to treatment including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, existential, and multicultural approaches to help adults and older adults with a variety of issues including anxiety and depression. I also have clinical knowledge of abnormal psychology, mood disturbances, and self harming behavior. I take a strength based approach to the work, and I work with patients for short-term therapy and for longer-term therapy. I focus on unconscious factors to help patients increase self-awareness and insight.

I have experience working with older adults, and I have been published as an author in the Journal of Homosexuality for my contributions to a project on the experiences of LGBT elders. I also have experience researching micro-aggressions experienced by people with disabilities. I have previously worked in Tele-Health and as a phone counselor, including with individuals in crisis. I have found that there are numerous benefits to Tele-Health for patients, including accessibility and convenience.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
