As a first time therapy patient, I had very little confidence that this route would actually work. I was just coming out of an extremely abusive relationship of 5 years with 2 years of breaking up & all the baggage that brings. Cindy Burnett was absolutely amazing! She made me feel seen and heard for the first time in years. With each appointment, a little bit more of my self esteem started to come back. While I am still a work in progress, I can definitely say that I’ve come a long way since the start of my therapy! I am now in a new, happy & healthy relationship and taking things slowly, but with new found confidence. I could not have done this on my own. I wouldn’t want to do this with any other therapist. I could not have done this without Cindy Burnett. Thank you so much Cindy for your unwavering support and for believing in me when I did not believe in myself!

Cindy is absolutely wonderful. Signing up for BetterHelp was a big step for me but I knew I needed help. Because therapy is new to me, I wasn’t sure what to expect from my therapist but Cindy is amazing. I feel seen and heard. She has given me a solid path forward to follow. I am so grateful for her!

More about Cindy

My name is Cindy Burnett, and I have been providing counseling services for 27 years in the state of South Carolina. I believe each person has an individual path that their life takes based on your family of origin, life choices, interactions with others, and how you respond to each experience. Along the path you may encounter challenges, emotional struggles, or uncertainties, and I want to come along side you to help you view, manage, and change the way you see, experience, and react to your journey. I believe everyone can benefit from counseling at some point in their life by having an empathetic, compassionate, and non-judgmental person who you can talk to. I want to be an emotional support, encourager for you and provide a new perspective to help you manage your life.

I use client centered, solution-focused, mindfulness, and cognitive behavior therapy techniques to help my clients understand, change, reflect on, and accept the unique and special person that they are.

I have been working with children, adolescents, adults, and families for 31 years in a variety of settings from working with students and adults with intellectual challenges. I have worked with families and individuals in the community mental health setting, and in the school system. I have worked primarily with adolescents, young adults, and families. I have worked with a wide range of mental health issues such as personal relationships, self-acceptance, depression, anxiety, anger management, blended families, personality disorders, ADHD, and life transitions.

I obtained my masters in community agency counseling from Clemson University and then obtained my LPC, Licensed Professional Counselor certification. I obtained a masters in Elementary and Secondary School counseling from Clemson University. I also obtained my Global Career Development Facilitators Certification, so I could work with people who need career guidance during times of transition.

Therapy is a process that should be individualized and help mend relationships, increase self-awareness, and help you become successful throughout your life. Thank you for considering me to be your therapist as we partner together to help you improve your life. Regardless of who you choose as your therapist I am proud of you for seeking help and I hope you find someone that you trust and feel comfortable sharing with. Have a great day.

I have only met with Cindy three times… and she is perfect for me! I don’t always do what she says right away…but she keeps encouraging me and I feel empowered. I love this opportunity so far…and I know that I will be stronger in the end.

Cindy is an amazing therapist. I came into this totally green, not knowing what to expect. I have been to a couple of therapist before, but never felt like they understood me. With Cindy I feel seen and heard and she helps me process my feelings and come to conclusions while still guiding me towards better decisions. she’s everything that I hoped a therapist would be . I would highly recommend Cindy Burnett, if you’re looking for a compassionate, understanding, yet direct therapist

I love my therapist. She is a very neutral ground in all of this time for me in ways I don’t think she will truly ever know. She does not always message right away but when she does it makes a difference and is very helpful and impactful. In sessions she does a great job of listening and asking questions. Everything she asks and suggests is with purpose and meaning and understanding. It means so much to me that someone can actually take the time to help someone get out of where they are to where they deserve to truly be. Thank you.

I had never had a therapist before and after a lifetime of being a positive person, I found myself without the life skills that I needed cope with the negative impacts of changes at work. Cindy helped me put together a plan for moving forward with my career and other parts of my life. Ultimately, I was accountable for making it all happen and was in control. Feeling more empowered as the weeks have gone by, I now have many more good days than bad ones. Cindy gave me many different ways to deal with my feelings of anxiety, inability to sleep, nightmares, and overall stress. I highly recommend Cindy as a therapist. She is patient, a great listener, and collaborative problem-solver.
