I was trained as a Community Counselor and as such, I am prepared to work with the issues and concerns that occur with individuals and families in the community, and everyone lives in a community. As you can imagine, there are not many individual situations I have not encountered. In the beginning of my career, I worked with children behaving violently or inappropriately in school environments primarily. I realized that the child experiencing mental health difficulties is a member of a family experiencing mental health difficulties as a system. I believe that most maladaptive behavior is learned from the family environment or may be from inherited tendencies. I also believe that many problems you see in both children and adults are the results of having to be in close proximity to someone who is a narcissist or someone who is exhibiting enough narcissistic traits to be dangerous to those with whom they associate.
I am licensed in the state of Illinois as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and have over 10 years of experience working as a Counselor. I specialize in treating survivors of narcissistic abuse both mental, spiritual and physical. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD, and ADHD. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. I am faith-based as I myself believe it is important to recognize The Creator when attempting to offer help to His people.
My therapy style is truth-based, educationally focused and kind. I believe in treating anyone in the manner that I would want to be treated if I was in their situation. I don't believe in labels, but I do believe in presenting examples of others who have overcome similar circumstances. I am primarily faith or Christian based. I am solutions focused and combine cognitive-behavioral and rational-emotive therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I’m so lucky we were paired together. She has been amazing for over 2 years
Myrna has been invaluable to me. She's a great listener, remembers things beautifully and has so much wisdom and so many useful tools culled from a variety of sources, all of which have really enhanced my experience in therapy.
Myrna is the best
Myrna truly listens to understand, not just respond. She is very honest which I appreciate. She holds me accountable and checks in regularly based off of what we have spoken about.
I like talking with her. It’s like talking with a member of the church or maybe a grandma or wise auntie
I've been working with Myrna for nearly two years and her support and wisdom have been invaluable to me.
Matched me with the best therapist I could ask for
Myrna offered guidance in a way that is relevant and relatable to my understanding and sensibility.
Myrna has been an absolutely invaluable and foundational part of my healing journey. I couldn't recommend her more highly.
Myrna provided me with perspective which has challenged my outlook on life that has empowered me. She's a patient listener and constantly checks in through the chat which I find extremely useful. It makes all the difference to communicate with your therapist outside the live session. I also feel like she's guided my spirituality and how faith has played a role in my healing and journey to bettering myself. I'm really glad I reached out to BetterHelp and found a therapist who was so real and so kind.
Myrna, is an excellent listener. She never interrupts and she is encouraging. I appreciate how well she is able to provide feedback and provide a great deal of concern and care for me.
I"ve had 3 sessions with Myrna! The first session was to proactively spot-check my emotional wellness as I embraced the dating world, I recently completed a few years of heavy inner work post-trauma and felt the need to spot-check myself. If anything to ensure I was not being reckless with my heart. Second session was identifying blind spots and third session was opening up about family trauma in hopes to identify character nuances *potentially* preventing me from healthy partnership. Myrna has been gentle in feedback and firm in her approach. Reassurance of new concepts. Reminders of current social norms. Raised eyebrows on maintaining healthy standards. She caught me masking and embraced my shifts with curiosity and consistency. Myrna is versed with family dynamics, biracial homes, role reversal et al, and helps shed light on areas to work on (or be gentle towards). Results focused. Thank you!
Myrna has helped me a great deal.made me see things in different ways. Made me realize how I perceive things. Many great things I learned about myself also. Thank you myrna
In a word, Myrna is wonderful.

She is amazing
I have been using better help for about 3-4 years and it took me multiple therapist to find her but I think she is the one for me. I feel better after every session. I have clarity and less stress. She listens to me and she is not judgmental about my life and experiences. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us
I have only had 1 actual appointment with her. We have communicated several times on the better help site. She is very helpful she sends me information and helps supply information on my future goals. It took a lot for me to get to this point just to be able to talk to someone and with her gentleness and her comforting voice she makes opening up easy. I am glad that the powers that be connected Mrs Pledger to me
Seeking therapy for the very first time was a bit scary and intimidating. I was worried I wouldn't connect with my therapist or that it would be hard to express my feelings to someone I have never met. I was so lucky to have found Myrna! She has been extremely kind during this process. She has helped me feel validated and has assisted me in dealing with my day-to-day anxiety and family conflicts. She is great listener, provides great feedback, and has helped me think outside the box. Every time I speak with Myrna, I feel so much better and lighter. She has become my weekly dose of mental medicine :)
Myrna is a great listener and very supportive. She makes you feel comfortable, keeps in touch and provides strategies and points of view that are very helpful.
Myrna is wonderful and has really helped me get through a tough year. She's been invaluable, and I'm very grateful to her.
She is a great listener and I appreciate how much she is in tune with what I am going through.
Myrna is patient, wise and has a lot of tools in her toolbox. A great therapist!
Myrna is great. She was very helpful when I was in a dark place.
Other therapists often fail to read the paragraphs of thoughts that I so carefully lay out for them. Then they annoy me with questions like "How does that make you feel" (as if we are in a movie or something). I know Myrna reads everything I sent her. She has an excellent ability to recall information and her responses gave me reasons to think deeply about.
She’s great
Myrna was great! Very helpful with ideas to combat anxiety. She was very knowledgeable and comforting.
Myrna provides quality time and consultation. She is very patient, knowledgeable and very thorough in her guidance.
Myrna is so insightful, kind, patient and supportive. She possesses a wonderful trifecta of learned knowledge, extensive experience and intuitive compassion. I recommend Ms. Pledger very highly!
Myrna is an expert listener. She can catalog paragraphs of information, process it and give you valuable feedback in one breath. It is truly remarkable. You won't find any of the stereotypical "how does that make you feel" here.
She’s a great listener & she has become to me the voice of a mother I never had.
Myrna is my first therapist I have gone to and I got really lucky to be matched with her. I was in a really bad place in my life and Myrna helped me get out it. She’s very thoughtful and knowledgeable and she challenged me and helped me figure out how to stay positive in a really bad situation. She’s a great therapist and anyone would be lucky to have her.
Myrna is the best! I’ve been going through a lot and Myrna has given me clarity on how to handle things
