More about Arthur

  • 46 years' experience

  • LMHC

I began working in the field at a VA Hospital Indiana psychiatric unit at the age of 18. My official first mental health job was at a psychiatric inpatient unit in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1977 when I was 22. From there I was hired at the local mental health center and worked the next 40 years. I retired in from my job of 40 years in 2018 but have continued to do private practice. I have a passion to work with people who need therapy. I am excited to keep working in the field of counseling. My specialties include, trauma counseling, grief work, anxiety disorders, depression and LGBTQ issues. I specifically love to take Trauma cases and people who have anxiety disorders. Since the pandemic began, I have done Telehealth services from my home and in the private practice office. Better Help with its focus on telehealth is the perfect place for me to work. I enjoy being a therapist because I feel it was the path I was meant to follow. I look forward to accepting new clients.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Although my time with Art has been brief, I couldn't recommend his services enough. I find him to be incredibly patient and actively listens to you, giving you all the time you need to talk. He also provides great insight and clearly has a great amount of experience helping people. I am in my early stages of therapy. Arthur Hastings has been great. He is easy to talk to and caring, I’m looking forward to more sessions with him.

I vibe very well with Arthur. I explained to him how I respond to certain things and/or comments and he adjusted his style to fit me as opposed to expecting me to adjust mine which I liked a lot. This small, but large gesture allows me to be more open and vulnerable so we can get to the crux of whatever is bothering me.
