Amy is amazing. I haven’t worked with many other therapist so maybe I don’t have much to compare her to, but for me, that doesn’t matter! Jumping into therapy for me was scary. I was of the opinion that therapy was for people that needed serious help, but I was tired of just feel “off” mentally and emotionally after a few rough years of life. After I took a chance and Amy and I matched and started working together, I could tell right away that it was a good fit. She understood right away where I was coming from and reassured me that it was okay if I didn’t really understand why I jumped into therapy. After a few months working together I can attest that Amy understands how to challenge my thinking on life situations but does it in a very gentle and supportive way! Not once in the few months we’ve been working together have I ever felt like she was being negative towards me, my thinking, or reactions to situations. She helps tackle the “big” stuff in life in small bit size chunks, making the big things less overwhelming. She offers encouragement when warranted and meets you where you are without judgement. Not only does she help through talk therapy but she coaches you through learning new methods to process thoughts and emotions; skills I didn’t realize I didn’t have a great handle on until starting therapy. Definitely would recommend Amy to anyone looking to step into therapy, even if just to help gather your thoughts and get a better handle everyday life.

Hi! I'm Amy and I'm a licensed professional counselor in the state of Missouri. Along with my Master's of Science degree in Counseling Psychology, I have a post-master’s veteran behavioral health certificate. Over the past 8 years, I have worked across a wide spectrum of clients. I have experience with anxiety, depression, bipolar, substance use disorders, anger management, family conflict, crisis intervention, goal setting, and with clients just wanting to optimize their mental health.

My personal approach to therapy is to create a partnership with a client working towards the goals the client wants to achieve. From the first conversation until the end, I maintain unconditional positive regard towards my clients. I believe therapy can be both about coping skills and achieving goals, but also about the process of discovering yourself through talk therapy. I utilize cognitive-behavioral approaches, dialectical behavioral techniques, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness techniques depending on individual needs of clients.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Amy is extremely good at wading through all the BS that I'd usually throw up in front of my problems and keeps me focused on the progress that I can make in any situation. She's also very mindful of my limits, in energy and emotions, and does a good job keeping the progress we make realistic and pragmatic. I highly recommend Amy for anyone who has had an unconventional life and want to do better in it.

I’ve been going through a lot and over time, it’s taken it toll on me. So far, Amy has done a great job of opening my eyes to reality and showing me what there is to appreciate. Mostly self-discovery, but in general, being happy with me. I’m glad that I’ve found her.

Reviewed March 2022

Amy is great! Super personable and welcoming and she has already helped me identify and work though some unproductive thought patterns, in just a couple sessions. I really like the way she includes me in our sessions - she’s never telling me exactly what to do, but rather guides me to reach my own conclusions and solutions.

Reviewed March 2022

I have had two sessions with Amy so far and have already started feeling much more able to cope with my feelings. She has started probing my responses to situations and this has helped me to analyse my reactions and feel more in control.
