I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a supervisory status and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. I have worked in the behavioral health field over 30 years. I have some specialty in substance use disorders and working with family members of individuals with these or other process compulsive behavior. I also have a high competency in cultural sensitivity as my highest aptitude. I have worked with LGBTQI, etc, individuals and had a full case load in this community for many years. In addition, to this community, the overlapping circles of accepting and affirming variety of orientations, be it spanning gender identities, or otherwise, some persons identify as being in alternative lifestyle while others do not, as well as various degrees of non-monogamy or living in a variety of open relationships overlapped at times.
I can work with individuals who have mood disorders or dual diagnosis and some thought and behavior disorders may be addressed in my practice as well.
I like to collaborate with psychiatrists, with written consent from the client of course, as needed or warranted for advocacy and client safety. In addition I can help identify when other levels of care may be recommended for a period of time for stability, wellness and safety.
I bring a seasoned, relaxed client centered approach to my counseling sessions. I have been told I have a relational style and am approachable and easy to open up to and gain and sustain trust and rapport easily. I look forward to exploring a working relationship with any potential client that may feel moved to connect and hopefully be compatible to meet the desired outcome.
Thank you for entering into this self care realm and continued journey whatever chapter of life you are in!
Warm Regards,
Shannon

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
