More about Avery

  • 5 years' experience

I have always been dedicated to helping diverse communities, having volunteered at several non profit agencies. Over the years, I have spent her time working in community centers as a mentor and doing community outreach through a Oakland non profit. This has inspired me to make a change in as many lives as possible. I hope to help you find a sense of belonging and the tools to achieve their dreams.

I achieved my Bachelors of Science in Human Services with a focus on Counseling at Northeastern University, located in Boston, Massachusetts. My Masters in Social Work followed at Simmons College.

I was raised in Oakland, where a sense of community is very important and sparked my desire to work in similar diverse communities. I come from a loving family that taught me to embrace people of all walks of life. I have brought those ideals into how I practice therapy. I often use a multicultural approach in therapy as well as cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and narrative therapy.

I specialize in the following areas, if you have a question please reach out about other issues:

• Anxiety

• Bipolar & Depressive & Other Mood Disturbances

• Psychosis ( including auditory/ visual hallucinations)

• Adjustment Issues

• Trauma & Stress Related Concerns

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Avery is my second therapist and my first one that wasn't free lol. I felt heard and safe to express myself. I found out so much about myself and I only wish I wasn't moving so that I can keep her as my therapist.

Avery is a super talented therapist - she is amazing at asking insightful questions, while simultaneously being validating and supportive. She helps you come to your own conclusions which makes the experience much more meaningful and helpful. Avery is by far the best therapist I've ever had!

I have only had one appointment with her! She is amazing, understanding, sweet, good at matching energy, asks great question. In the past I’ve never found a therapist who actually knew what I needed. It’s a big relief to have found someone who specializes in the care treatments I need. She is warm and inviting and fun to talk to.
