Greetings. Thanks for checking in. I am licensed in Oregon, Idaho and Washington with 23 years of professional, clinical work experience. I am a Registered Clinical Supervisor for Idaho and a Substance Use Disorder Professional in all 3 states. I have extensive experience providing EAP services. I also have a Clinical Private Practice serving Idaho, Oregon and Washington state accessed via my Psychology Today webpage under my name.
I do NOT provide youth and family counseling, evaluations of any kind for court purposes including custody or fitness to work.
I do NOT allow no shows. Late cancellations, less than 24 hours are discouraged and only allowed under special circumstances.
*All sessions are scheduled on a first come, first served basis.*
I DO provide brief and long-term psychotherapy services to individual adults over the age of 18 years old. I also provide professional consultation regarding mental health topics in the primary care setting to Physicians and Allied Medical Professionals.
I DO work with all Clients to create an open and safe environment, where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment or shame. There's a sign over the door: "all feelings are welcome here."
My therapy style is intentional, direct and purposeful. I hold high expectations for progress. I have a person-centered, trauma informed, clinical practice stance. My Betterhelp Clients show remarkable progress in a short amount of time which is inspiring! The work here is very satisfying. Thank you.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Robert was interested in my issue and provided great insight. His strategy was welcoming.
Robert is a great person to talk to and has a casual way. Offered some great tips as well.
Robert is easy to talk to, especially when i am alone in my house. He is a sympathetic listener, gives good advice and provides real life analogies to illustrate his suggestions.
Robert listens to my concerns and offers advice and a outside perspective on the situation Very respectful a pleasure to talk to
I would recommend Robert to others - we have developed a good relationship.
My therapist strives to help me find tools that will support my mental health goals.
Great individual with a working knowledge on therapy, not my cup of tea but not everything works out.
Very good listener. He helps me through when I breakdown, tells me it’s okay to feel that way and just to keep breathing. He helps me understand the “why” for some of the ways I feel and I feel very confident in him. I have felt so much better since I’ve been seeing him. He’s very easy to speak to and that’s huge for me. I highly recommend him.
Robert is kind, caring and always think outside the box to help and honor his clients learning style and emotional wellbeing.
Robert embodies in spades everything I could hope for in a therapist. Presented with a weighty suitcase of anxiety, depression, pandemic-related issues, and past abuse, Robert has gently started to help me unpack the messy contents of my life in the last four weeks. With kindness, great knowledge and expertise he already has provided tools to iron out some wrinkles; and we have a great map to conquer the rest. Robert provides a safe environment to speak openly, a shared breath when emotions peak, and a good laugh at the best times. I highly recommend him.
His experience and knowledge leads me through those hard moments of therapy. Being a voice of reason when one is greatly needed.
This was a lot better than expected
He has been a wonderful blessing.
Robert has been great to work with, he had helped with tools to keep it together! Divorce is never fun, but he has been very supportive and has great suggestions for how to deal with someone who does not agree with the position I am taking.
Patient-, and understanding. Gives me confidence in what I am having to chat with him about.
Robert does a great job of listening and encouraging. You can tell he really cares.
Robert Sherman, is a wonderful therapist. He has helped me so much in one session. We focused on coping skills the first session help validate my thoughts and gave me rational reasons why the brain works in that direction. Wow helped me understand more about the brain works to protect myself and why some thoughts were crossing my mind. Not only did he validate my thoughts and feelings he taught me a great coping skills to help get back down to a lower stress level which made my day a lot better.
Phenomenal
Speaking with Robert was like talking to friend you known for year’s
Robert is kind, down to earth, and extremely knowledgeable. His therapy style feels more like a conversation and less like a therapist drilling me with questions. I don’t often feel comfortable with male therapists due to past trauma but I feel totally at ease with Robert. 10/10 recommend!
