Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Reviewed April 2024

James Powell started off by listening. He has given me tools to help in my areas of concern and he listens and celebrates with me when I make progress, and helps me think through the things I want to work through. He doesn’t judge, and he doesn’t ’give me the answers’ but he does ask questions to help me figure out the best way forward. I highly recommend him and have been very thankful to have been paired with him!

Reviewed April 2023

James has helped me get back on my feet after a traumatic experience. He gave me many tools and skills that allowed me to see things in a new light. He taught me to wait longer, observe more, and relax more before the stress kicks into overdrive. He's my first experience in therapy and I believe I lucked out and got the exact person I needed to talk to. I'm still seeing him weekly as we're working through other difficulties I've had in my life. He's kind, he's caring, and he listens deeper than I've ever gotten from another person. 10/10

Reviewed February 2023

James is really great and helped me with my anxiety and emotion regulation. I had never really thought of emotions as being helpful and not something to just “get through”. James gave me a helpful framework for taking a step back to take time to process my emotions without trying to justify them, but to also understand that they may arise from a perceived danger and not real danger.
