More about Yolanda

  • 3 years' experience
  • Female
  • BACP

I am a fully insured, licensed and BACP registered counsellor in the UK with many years of professional and counselling experience.

I have expertise in helping clients with grief and loss, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and the associated struggles that affect everyday life quality.

Availability and Times:

I work via video call mostly. Sessions are 45 minutes, extendable to 50 minutes. I am available Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays each week, and can be flexible if need be. Please do ask if you can't find a suitable time. You can check my schedule for times I am available and I aim to respond to all messages within 24 hours.

Approach and Specialism:

I am always very keen to hear what might be important to you especially during our initial sessions to ensure you get what you need from our time together. My main modality is person-centred experiential which means the focus is not just on the mind and the emotions, but also on the senses and bodily sensations, taking a holistic approach is most helpful to those suffering with anxiety or who have endured trauma. I find the body-mind route makes a lot of sense to clients struggling to regulate and cope with everyday life.

I have a calm and empathic nature and always create a non-judgmental, and caring space where you can feel comfortable and safe to explore whatever it might be that is holding you back from living your life to the full.

I also have several years' experience working within a Hospice setting providing counselling to clients and patients affected by the pain and grief of their loss; or coming to terms with a terminal diagnosis. I have witnessed the huge benefits to whole families when they had counselling during these difficult times of unbearable pain and sadness. It can be an extremely lonely and disorientating time to face on your own when a loved one dies and the feelings associated with the death of a significant person can be extremely complex, overwhelming, and unpredictable. You might find yourself dealing with feelings of anger, resentment, or other emotions which are hard to express when someone has died. Together we can work through your experiences and find some peace and comfort whilst building resilience and understanding.

I believe you are the expert of your story and you have the ability to overcome the challenges you might currently be facing. It is good to ask for help when you need it.

Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can often feel scary and overwhelming, but I would like to encourage you to reach out and start working towards the future you deserve.

Continued Professional Development Interests:

I regularly take part in Continued Professional Development. In keeping with my Ethical Framework I also have regular supervision to ensure I work ethically and safely.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
