More about David

With over twenty-five years in healthcare as a clinician, educator, and consultant I can share some insight and experience into what heals us and makes us better. Professionally, my experience includes education, prevention, and intervention across the healthcare field and developing and evaluating behavioral health services. I have held professorships in Community and Clinical Psychology, and have published research in behavioral healthcare. My latest book, "Authenticity and Grace" is a guide on how you may get to know who you really are.

Our focus will be learning how our own perceptions, thinking patterns, and corresponding feelings are what (paradoxically) may be generating or causing much of our psychic distress and suffering. Learning how and why this is so unlocks a great mystery. Growth is usually simple, but not easy. It is, by definition, a change in the way things are towards the way things can or need to be.

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

In the short time I had with Dr. Smith I felt more at ease after our conversation then I’d felt in months. He’s been very helpful in aspects that I didn’t even expect. He brings out things in me I suppress but I feel good after he pulls it out and clears it. I wouldn’t change therapists for anything.
