Engaging in therapy is often scary and daunting. How many times have you silently said, I wonder if therapy would help me? And answered, no, I can work this out on my own. Well, I’ve been there, done that myself.

I have worked as a therapist in various capacities for over 35 years and founded the Counseling Centre LLC in Gulf Shores, AL after retiring from the University of Alabama as an Associate Professor. My clients report that I am a good listener and communicating with me is easy. My experience validates my belief that each of us has the answers we need. My job is to assist your journey of discovery. I will offer suggestions, provide feedback, and gently question. I will never assume that I have the answers you need. Only you have the answers.

Human beings are complicated because we are far more emotional than logical. You and I will spend considerable time exploring your emotions and feelings. Simply stated, these emotions are mad, sad, glad, scared, and hurt. I have also discovered that anxiety is a primary response to the challenges that my clients present.

Humans cannot - not - communicate. Words, gestures, silence, and behaviors are all forms of communication. Inadequately or inappropriately communicating feelings and thoughts, ideas, or wants create tension and conflict.

Listening is the foundation of establishing and maintaining healthy and satisfying relationships. Effective listening avoids jumping to conclusions and creating false assumptions. Note: Hearing and listening are not the same.

My role as therapist is to assist, guide, and educate individuals and couples in the complicated task of effectively living with selves and others. I will walk along the path of discovery with you. Scary, yes. Worthwhile, absolutely.

I am flexible with times and days for appointments. Please call me Will – everybody does.

It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
